Zelda Universe

Brand evolution
2017 IDENTITY COLLAB W/ CONNOR STRICKLAND

The original ZU stone temple layout was inspired by the aesthetics of the Legend of Zelda franchise. With the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild coming up, ZU leadership wanted to recapture that sort of playful approach to the brand, inspired by the aesthetics of the upcoming release. Internally dubbed “Wild Hylian,” this direction featured glowing runes and a pivot toward deep blues, mirroring the most striking visual aspects of Breath of the Wild.

This evolution of the brand felt particularly profound for leadership, and it was decided that we would update the visual direction to coincide with each subsequent Zelda game released. Assets inspired by Tears of the Kingdom and Age of Calamity are featured below.
